As usual, there has been a lot going on at the house in terms of renovations and upgrades. Thanks to the Property Company and your contributions, more recent work has included building the new billiards lounge in the basement, installing stainless steel cabinets in the kitchen, repainting the front doors and woodwork up to the second floor, installing new pavers on the front porch, and installing new drop ceiling in the basement.

Our wish list for the rest of the year includes re‑carpeting the hallways and stairwells, refurbishing some of the bedrooms, repairing the organ pipe wall and repaving the parking lot. It won’t be possible to complete all of this without significant alumni contributions, so we hope you consider making a gift to continue to support the chapter.

Therefore, I want to remind you what’s in it for you. Why should you support the chapter and these efforts? Here’s why…

#1: We have events planned just for you. This spring, we want to see you at events, laughing, telling stories, and reliving some of the most memorable moments you had at Penn. Join us for the NYC Happy Hour, April 30, and Alumni Reunion Weekend at Penn, May 16! Did we mention food and open bar provided? Having a reunion in 2015? We’ll help you plan it. We are continually looking for opportunities to bring our brotherhood together. Have a good idea for an alumni event this summer? Let me know.

#2: You have a chance to share your expertise and wisdom.  As an alumnus, you understand that we cannot ask a lifetime of experience from young men who are just learning what leadership means. We have to show them. That is how you learned. That is how they will learn. Email me if you are interested in getting more involved as an alumni volunteer at any capacity.

#3: Our chapter is making us proud. On the morning of November 11, the fire alarm was accidentally activated at the Chapter House. University police arrived, and they were amazed at how quickly and responsibly the brothers responded to the incident. One of the officers said, “I was astounded as to how quickly they exited the house and made sure that everyone was safely out of there…it is comforting to know that all of our collective efforts to keep our students safe is paying dividends.” Our chapter continues to grow through successful recruitment efforts.

#4: We need each other. Jobs. Advice. Connections. Looking for a job or wanting to advance from your current position? Looking for a house and need a realtor? Interested in starting an education fund for your kids and need a good financial planner? Have sickness in your family and want some sound medical advice? Maybe you are relocating to a new city and want to build a new social network. We are a brotherhood for a reason.

Keeping our network together, alive, and thriving, and continuing to provide leadership to our undergraduate members, requires constant attention. Invest in this alumni relations program and our daily chapter operations today and reap the ROI.

Please consider how you can play a more active role with our undergraduates. You can reach me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
