Beta Rho has hit the ground running in the new school year, with the gentlemen of 3819 Walnut Street looking to honor its past, spark its present, and prepare for its future.

House Updates

The Property Company is working in collaboration with House Manager Alexander Garcia and Eminent Commander Holden McGinnis to restore parts of the Chapter House. This summer, improvements have included new carpeting on every floor, more secure front doors, new carpets and paint for six residential rooms, new desks for some of the residential rooms, a complete makeover of The Cooler and signs on every room stating the room’s name.

Perhaps the greatest upgrade to the house has been the addition of the dining plan, which has boosted brotherhood involvement and fraternal bonding. The dining service, spearheaded by Dinesh Chugani ’15 last year and currently overseen by Steward Matt Wojciszek, serves lunch and dinner five times a week and stocks the house with cereal, milk, peanut butter, and jelly.

Philanthropy

The Community Service Chairs, Eugene Shekhtman and Danny Sample, have revamped our philanthropy efforts to strengthen the chapter’s relationship with St. Jude’s Hospital, one of Sigma Nu’s national philanthropy partners. The committee sponsored a four-day fundraiser on Locust Walk, where passersby could donate $1 to take a corn hole shot for a chance to win a coupon for Jimmy John’s. Bringing in $642.67, the event was the first of many Shekhtman and Sample have planned for this year.

ATTENTION ALL ALUMNI: We need your feedback! How do you think Beta Rho can raise more money for St. Jude’s and our other causes? What are philanthropy events that have worked in the past? Rush Season

With the year progressing, Rush Chairs Kevin Procopio and William Archer are preparing for January’s rush season. Looking to build on the success of last year’s chair, Hunter Schlacks, the Rush Committee will be planning many new events as Beta Rho looks for its next batch of honorable men.
